We are seeking a reliable and flexible School Caretaker to join our team at a primary school in DE24 9LU.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 11:00am
  • 25 hours per week during term time
  • Flexibility required to work up to 37.5 hours per week during school holidays

Key Responsibilities:

  • Unlocking and opening the school each morning to ensure it is ready for staff and pupils
  • Setting out tables daily for Breakfast Club, then clearing and packing away the area
  • Cleaning and preparing the school hall for daily use
  • Daily cleaning of the playground and emptying outdoor litter bins
  • Use of outdoor equipment including a leaf blower

Planned Maintenance & Compliance Tasks:
Tasks are structured as daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly and include:

  • Checks of outdoor play equipment
  • Fire alarm checks and assisting with fire drill testing
  • Water temperature checks
  • Guttering and roof inspections
  • Carrying out annual health and safety audits

Maintenance Duties:

  • Light maintenance tasks
  • Painting and decorating as required
  • Supporting and managing sub-contractors on site

About You:

  • Highly reliable and flexible, with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Comfortable working independently and managing a wide range of duties
  • Practical, hands-on, and safety-conscious
  • Confident liaising with contractors and school staff

This is a multi-faceted role offering a varied workload, with further duties and expectations to be discussed at interview.
